About Me

Hello and Welcome to Winning Outdoors! The outdoors have been a major influence on me since early in my childhood. I was born and raised in a small town in the Southeast. We have a post office and a school; no red lights, no Walmart, and just recently got a Dollar General. “Town” is probably an exageration.

My Story

As a kid, we weren’t exactly upper class, but we always had what we needed. I was raised hunting, fishing, and riding ATV’s. I could go on, but you get the idea. I barely made it through HS and went straight into the workforce. After several years, I thought there has to be more out there. Off to college I go! Halfway through my BS, I became a husband. I later completed my education in Psychology.

Fast forwarding another decade to the present. I now work in Safety on a rotational basis. I am still married and have two wonderful children. Fatherhood sure changes things, huh? Time is speeding up daily it seems. There is always a dance or gymnastics class, t-ball or soccer practice, and lets not forget homework… We really are living our best life, but it is sometimes difficult to see that during the semi-controlled chaos.

Why I Am Here

I am here because I enjoy helping people. I will be sharing some thoughts, experiences, goals, and surely some failures. We can’t always be perfect, right? As my kids get older, I hope to be introducing them to more and more activities outdoors. Sure, they enjoy going “glamping” now. Their interest in hunting and fishing continues to improve with each passing season. Hopefully, while sharing some of my thoughts, you may be able to share some of yours as well.

My Goal

My intent here is really simple. I hope that I along with all of you can create or maintain a passion and love of the outdoors for generations to come. Things change and life gets busy. Everyone has to have an outlet. If you are already enjoying the outdoors, please continue. If not, I encourage you to give it a shot!

If you have any questions or would like to add content, feel free to reach out and I will be more than happy to discuss.

All the best,

JP
